Crack of the Whip

My process is entirely intuitive. I add layer after layer of paint until there is a magical reveal. This one is 8" x 8" x 1.5", small, but it packs a punch. It's acrylic on birch cradleboard. The sides are finished, and this one is ready to hang. The artwork is an abstract painting characterized by vibrant and dynamic brushstrokes. Dominant colors include deep blues, rich reds, bright yellows, and greens, applied in both broad swaths and thick, textured layers. Bold, sweeping dark blue or black lines intersect across the canvas, creating a sense of movement and energy—patches of color blend and contrast, with some areas showing rough, textured paint applications. The composition is balanced yet spontaneous, with a harmonious interplay of warm and cool tones evoking a lively, expressive atmosphere.
